#SANLiC2023 – SANLiC 2023 CONFERENCE FEES and CALL for PAPERS
Theme: Breaking the mould: change, disruption, reflection
Change and disruption is commonplace for academic and research libraries. Fake news and digital pollution make it hard to analyse what is really happening and accordingly to adjust well to the change. With the impact of 4IR, war, fires, loadshedding, COVID, and new work demands, it is a mad hatter’s party for academic and research libraries. As we transition toward open access, work structured purely around the subscription paradigm requires new ways of working to be figured out. Transformational agreements, incorporating reading and publishing services as well as researcher support require a rethink of the roles played by libraries and research offices in relation to the research cycle.
This conference will assist knowledge workers to take stock, take heart, evaluate, share ideas for excellence and explore new ways to collaborate.
The SANLiC 2023 Hybrid Conference will take place at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Centre, O.R. Tambo, Johannesburg, and online, from 23-25 May 2023. There will be a pre-conference training workshop for personnel from member institutions only on Monday, 22 May.
Every second year, SANLiC hosts a member conference primarily for e-Resource librarians. This year’s conference will be of particular interest to all librarians and research office practitioners needing to manage the transition to open access publishing. It is also an ideal opportunity for e-Resource Librarians, library directors and librarians in general to gather, share, learn about latest developments in the field, recharge and have loads of fun.
